The Italian Embassy announced that its government is to launch an initiative aimed at supporting the agricultural sector in Libya, in cooperation with the Presidential Council (PC), CIHEAM Bari an intergovernmental centre for post-graduate training, applied scientific research and international cooperation, and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
"The initiative will shape upcoming €3 million program by Italy in support of Fezzan's agriculture, licit economy and resilience of communities in southern Libya," the embassy explained via its Twitter account.
The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, discussed with the Italian Defence Minister, Elisabetta Trenta, several issues in the past two days, including supporting the industrial and agricultural sectors, especially in technical and advisory terms.
The new Italian Government has commenced assistance to Libya in several areas, including the fight against illegal immigration, in addition to other sectoral areas such as health and education.
