The European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM) announced the appointment of Czech diplomat Jan Vycital as head of the mission in Libya.
On December 5, the Political and Security Committee decided to appoint Jan Vycital as the EUBAM head in Libya, succeeding Natalina Cea, to officially begin his duties on January 1, 2024, until June 30, 2025.
Vycital currently serves as Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Tunisia, with accreditation for Libya. He previously served as Czech Ambassador to Iraq and to Libya.
The EUBAM mission was launched in Libya in May 2013, with the aim of enhancing the capacity of relevant Libyan authorities and agencies in the management of Libya’s borders, fighting cross-border crime, including human trafficking and migrant smuggling, and countering terrorism.
