The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) has issued a decision to include eight municipal councils whose mandate has legally expired in the municipal council elections scheduled for the current year.
The targeted municipalities are Kikla, Misrata, Jalu, Al-Haraba, Kabaw, Al-Zawiya Al-Janoub, Al-Zawiya Al-Gharb, and Al-Rajban.
Last year, the House of Representatives issued a law transferring the powers of managing and preparing the electoral process for municipal councils to the HNEC instead of the Ministry of Local Government.
