The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) has emphasized that voter registration is a fundamental requirement for accepting candidacy applications for municipal council elections.
In a statement, the HNEC revealed that several applicants had not registered as voters for the 2025 municipal elections.
It urged those who have not yet met this requirement to complete their voter registration before the deadline, ensuring they are registered in the municipalities where they are running.
The HNEC warned that any candidate failing to meet this condition will have their candidacy revoked and their files permanently excluded from the electoral process.
