The special envoy of the Italian Foreign Ministry to Libya, Nicola Orlando, has affirmed his government's commitment to work with France in order to help the Libyans overcome the current political impasse.

Orlando, who is visiting Paris, had talks with President Emanuel Macron's envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, regarding the situation in Libya and ways to sustain the momentum of the political process there.

“The urgency of preserving Libya’s political process was central to my consultations with Paul Soler in Paris,” Orlando tweeted on his account on Monday, reiterating that Italy and France share the goals of unity and stability in Libya.

During the past few days, the Italian and French envoys visited Libya and conducted meetings with several top officials in the country, including the President and members of the Presidential Council, the prime minister of the Government of National Unity, the speaker of the House of Representatives, and chairman of the High Council of State.
