The United States Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, said that the recent rebel attack on N’Djamena, Chad, highlights once more the urgent necessity to consolidate Libyan sovereignty through national elections which would enable a strong government that could control Libya’s borders and build a unified strong military structure representing the country.

Norland, along with the President of the Tabu Congress, Issa Abdel Majid, discussed, during their meeting on Tuesday in Tunis, the importance of holding the general elections on the scheduled date next December, ensuring that all citizens are fairly represented in all Libyan political sectors.
