The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has reaffirmed that the Advisory Committee is not a decision-making or dialogue body but operates within a set timeframe and is expected to complete its tasks within a short period.

In a statement on Wednesday, UNSMIL clarified that the Advisory Committee would present its outcomes to UNSMIL to be built upon in the next phase of the political process. It also said that the committee would work to facilitate communication and interaction between the committee and relevant institutions.

On Tuesday, UNSMIL announced the formation of the Advisory Committee as part of its multi-track political initiative, which it presented to the Security Council during its session on December 16, 2024.
