The fourth meeting of Ministers of Youth and Sports at the Community of Sahel-Saharan Countries concluded in the capital, Tripoli, on Wednesday.

Ministers from 21 countries participated in the meeting, which was chaired by the Minister of Youth of the Government of National Unity, Fathallah Al-Zani. The meeting called for taking into account the policies of youth development programs at the continental level to ensure that the continent benefits from its demographic dividend stipulated in the African Youth Charter.

He also recommended implementing an action plan in five areas: education, skills development, youth employment, entrepreneurship, peace and security, climate and environmental change, developing the ministries of youth and sports, and enhancing the capabilities of young people, with the aim of combating extremist ideas advocated by active terrorist organizations in the countries of the group. 

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, attended part of the meeting’s activities on Tuesday, where he said in a speech that his government showed a moral commitment to restoring peace to Sudan and Niger, without internal challenges distracting it from performing its duty.

He stressed that the hosting of Tripoli of African and international forums was a clear indication of the return of security, peace and stability to the country, stressing support for the Community of Sahel-Saharan States. 

He pointed to the government’s support for Libyans in the “Return to Life” program, to put the country on the path to development and societal peace. Dbeibah also stressed support for the efforts of the Presidential Council in comprehensive national reconciliation among the Libyan people and preserving their gains.
