The city of Ghat in southwestern Libya has been plagued with a total blackout for the eighth consecutive day, reported Ghat Municipality’s media office.

According to the media office, Ghat is undergoing an acute shortage of fuel, water supplies, and cooking gas amid the current wave of bitter cold weather that is sweeping through the country.

“The blackout has hit its eighth day on Sunday together with a shortage of water supplies, which was caused due to the stoppage of water pumps in the wells as there had been no electricity or fuel over the last days.” Ghat Municipality’s media office added on Sunday.

“A humanitarian disaster is about to happen in Ghat.” The media office remarked.

On Saturday, a total blackout took place in all of the cities and districts from Ras Ajdair in western region to Ajdabiya in the east, leaving people struggling for keeping warm and having light in the cold bleak night.
