Malta's Prime Minister Robert Abela confirmed that his country will be a voice on behalf of Libya in the European Union to limit the phenomenon of migration.
This came during a meeting with the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, on Tuesday evening, according to Menfi's media office.
The statement added that the meeting discussed aspects of joint bilateral cooperation, and ways to enhance and develop it, in a way that serves the interests of both countries.
The statement cited the Prime Minister of Malta as praising the pivotal role of Menfi in international forums for his interest in the issues of irregular migration, organized crime, and ways to combat them.
Menfi stressed that Malta is a strategic partner for Libya in all fields, and that the aim of the meeting is to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, enhance cooperation in the field of health, economy, education, combating irregular migration and organized crime, and combating terrorism.
