Libya and Tunisia exchanged discussions on joint programs and the state of bilateral cooperation in areas related to family, women, children, and the elderly.
The Minister of Social Affairs in the Government of National Unity, Wafaa Al-Kilani, paid an official visit to Tunisia on Thursday and Friday to discuss several shared issues with Tunisia’s Minister of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly, Asmaa Al-Jabri.
Al-Kilani presented her ministry’s strategies and programs in early childhood development, care for orphaned children, economic integration programs for women and girls, support for productive families, the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship, and the protection and well-being of family members.
She emphasized the importance of cooperation in strengthening family and child rights and implementing innovative social programs. She also highlighted the role of the Arab Organization for Family and Social Development, which she chairs, in supporting these issues at the Arab regional level.
Al-Kilani expressed Libya’s desire to enhance cooperation and partnership with Tunisia in the field of social work and to exchange experiences and expertise, particularly in child-focused programs and initiatives that strengthen family cohesion, while the two sides agreed to establish a joint committee to develop clear cooperation programs and work on drafting a memorandum of understanding between the two ministries to enhance future collaboration.
At the end of the meeting, Al-Kilani conducted a field visit to the Tunisian National Child Center and the Dar Om El-Kheir Elderly Care Home, where she observed Tunisia’s experience in these fields. toward a stronger economic partnership based on mutual cooperation and joint investment."
