Libya's ambassador to the United Nations, Taher El Sonni, said that the first coordination meeting was held between the Libyan delegation and a Palestinian delegation in New York, after Libya had held the presidency of the Arab Group this month.

During the meeting, the two delegations discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as ways of joint coordination across the various United Nations' organizations, especially the Security Council and the General Assembly.

El Sonni reaffirmed Libya’s full support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, and that Libya will use its presidency of the Arab Group to work to stop violations and aggression by the occupation forces against innocent civilians.

The attendees also agreed on the importance of building on the recent Arab resolution issued in the General Assembly, working to achieve an immediate ceasefire, providing humanitarian aid, and preventing attempts at forced displacement.
