The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, hailed France’s vote in support of the Arab resolution in the United Nations General Assembly on Palestine and its support for relief efforts in Derna.

This came during his meeting with Paul Soler, the Special Envoy of the French President to Libya, in the presence of the French Ambassador to Libya Mostafa Mihraje, who praised the Libyan position, which contributed to reaching a consensus on the unified Arab draft resolution submitted by Jordan that led to France voting in favor of the draft resolution.

The French envoy also expressed his gratitude for Menfi's praise of France for providing assistance in dealing with the disastrous effects left by the floods in the city of Derna and a number of cities and villages of Jabal Al-Akhdar by establishing a field hospital, sending field teams, and providing funds to a number of United Nations organizations working in the region.

He also said his country was in support for a comprehensive national body for the reconstruction of flood-hit cities whose members meet standards of competence, including local representatives from the affected areas.

Soler indicated that France supported the High Finance Committee and considered it a model for establishing a comprehensive national platform for the reconstruction of the city of Derna and the rest of the affected areas of Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar. He also renewed his invitation to Menfi to attend the Paris International Peace Conference, which will be held on November 9 and 10.
