The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, has stressed that the Presidential Council is not a party to the conflict in Libya. He added in a speech during a joint meeting with the African Union's delegation headed by the current President, Mauritanian President Mohammed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani.
Menfi added that the Presidential Council was in contact with all parties and had been keen not to exclude any of them in the reconciliation process. It said it was continuing to strengthen the approach of national partnership and achieve national ownership of the solution.
Menfi hailed this meeting and the meanings and messages it carried, saying they expressed Africa's commitment to helping Libya overcome these circumstances and Libya's fateful affiliation to the African continent.
The media office of the Presidential Council explained that the meeting reviewed the steps taken since the launching of the national reconciliation process led by the Presidential Council in partnership with the African Union and with the support of the international community through relevant Security Council resolutions, the outcomes of the Berlin track, the challenges facing the achievement of this historic entitlement, and the means to overcome them.
It indicated that the meeting constituted a continuation of the African Union's commitment to the path of national reconciliation and to Libya's unity, sovereignty and stability in the face of external interference.
