Sabha Medical Center says it received Wednesday nine people of Chadian nationality in critical condition after sustaining injuries in armed clashes in Chad.

"The emergency department was overcrowded with foreigners on Wednesday morning, who were wounded in clashes in the Kri area within the Chadian borders," the centre confirmed.

The injuries varied between wounds and fractions, and some had fallen from some great height, according to the emergency staff at the centre.

Sources from the region denied that the clashes were taking place on Libyan territory or that a local armed group was involved in the hostilities.

Some media outlets had claimed that the confrontations took place on the Chadian-Libyan border between the Tabu and Mahamid tribes in Libya, which was denied by sources from both sides.
