The British Ambassador to Libya, Caroline Hurndall, has assured the head of the High National Electoral Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh, of the UK's support for efforts to make the expected elections a success.

Ambassador Hurndall met with Al-Sayeh on Sunday at the HNEC's HQ in Tripoli.

A statement by the HNEC said the meeting discussed developments in the electoral processes, the commission's preparations for their implementation, and the support and expertise needed in managing and implementing elections.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the British ambassador toured the Commission's HQ to see the extent of its readiness and the development of its infrastructure and technology.

She inspected the Media Observatory, the Counting and Statistics Centre, and some other vital headquarters, according to the HNEC.
