The release of a number of prisoners and detainees in the prisons of Misrata will be postponed to an unknown date, the Deputy Military Prosecutor Nuri Al-Wahayshi has declared.

Al-Wahayshi explained that the postponement came as members of the Office of the Military Prosecutor held a sit-in which began on Monday.

He added that the protesters are demanding financial dues, most notably the salaries that have not been paid since 2014, in addition to job promotions.

The postponement was announced while a number of civil society organizations had prepared a festival on Tuesday to honor prison officials who cooperated in classifying prisoners’ files and in releasing those worth release according to the law.
