The mayor of Ubari municipality, Ahmed Matko, announced the death of eight people as a result of a tragic traffic accident involving multiple vehicles in the Al-Shweirif area on Monday.
In a statement on Tuesday, Matko explained that four of the victims were from the municipality of Ubari, while the other four were from the Wadi Al-Ajal region.
He noted that ambulance and civil defense teams were unable to save any of the passengers due to the intense fires that engulfed the vehicles.
Matko attributed the recurrence of such accidents to the poor condition of roads in the area and their lack of necessary maintenance, calling on authorities to take urgent measures to maintain the deteriorating roads.
