Libya has condemned the continued escalation of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians in the occupied territories, the latest of which was the military operation in Jinen on Monday that killed at least 12 Palestinians and wounded 100 others.

In a statement Wednesday, Libya's Foreign Ministry demanded that the attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank come to a halt.

"Libya reiterates its rejection of the criminal acts targeting the Palestinian people and calls for prompt action by the international community."

It held the world community accountable for the "Illegal acts which take place against defenseless citizens."

The Israeli military operation against the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank is the largest since the 2000-2005 Second Intifada, a mass Palestinian uprising against Israel’s decades-long occupation.
